Interested in a career in the broadcast industries? Ever wondered about the reality of working in radio and television?
The University of the West of Scotland has invited a collection of eminent professionals working in the creative industries in Scotland to come to the campus and discus their careers in broadcasting.
Each guest will be talking about their life and times in TV and radio and some will show examples of their most recent work. This is your also chance to ask them how they got their start in their chosen career. How difficult was it to get their first job? What tips do they have to those just starting on a broadcasting career?
Guests include :
Graham Mitchell - BBC Scotland Executive Producer – Events. Graham has responsibility for the coverage and broadcast of such events as T in the Park, Children in Need, Hogmanay Live.
Paul Hughes – Paul Hughes is the Channel Editor of STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh. Paul was formerly the Managing Editor of ITV Westminster and led the digital switchover project for Scotland.
Stuart Barrie – Station Manager, Insight Radio. Stuart has been Programme Controller for a number of radio stations over the years including Capital FM Scotland, Galaxy Scotland and Xfm Scotland. Currently Station Manager at RNIB's (Royal National Institute of Blind People) Insight Radio.
Ruth Sangster – Series Producer/Series Director, STV. Ruth has just finished work on ‘Stopping Scotland’s Scammers’ the first episode of which will be transmitted in the first week of March. She’s also worked on ‘Finding Scotland’s Real Heroes’ and the STV Appeal
Rod Tamime – UWS graduate and producer/director on such shows as Sexy Beasts, Zombie Apocalypse, Korean Cooking with Gizzi Erskine and Officially Amazing.
Aoife Anderson – Most recently working at IWCMedia, Aoife has just started her career in TV after graduating from UWS in 2013.
Susan Hay – Producer, BBC Radio Scotland. Susan has worked for the BBC for the last four years but has a breath of experience both presenting and producing for public and commercial radio broadcasters
